Disection is horrible
I think disection is horrible, it is the main reason that I dislike biology so much. Remember, biology is the study of life, not death.

I Agree
Hi Rachel. I agree. I remember in Biology when the teacher cut open the sheeps heart. Me and you sat at the back and didn't watch. Oh, it was awful. They say that disection teaches us. What does it teach us? That it's right to cut up animals? There are other ways to teach and these schools who disect are just using the evil (and expencive) way.

Couldn't agree more James
I agree James, the lungs and the heart were definetly the most horrible things I've ever laid eyes upon, and I wasn't even watching (sat at back with you)I just accidently caught a glimpse now and again. It was mean and unnessesary!

...
Um guys, "schools who disect are evil" are you calling our school evil?
Posted by Carl Booth

Yes, Carl, he is, it is.
I don't get it: they show us diagrams, they go over the whole thing again and again and again, then they take a heart that, honestly, the sheep needs more than we do, and cut it up, just to say "see, I was telling the truth!" I don't care what a cross-section of my heart looks like, all I know is it might stop a few times, but what the hey! Who actually cares, when it comes to it?! All cutting it up does is make squeamish people sick, psycopaths extatic and hyper, and a sheep ghost think "I suppose that's that then." Nobody cares how it works, just that it does!!!

Except...
heart surgeons

Disection is evil. if they really want to know how to treat a human. Did up a gosh darn dead human!!!

Yeah...I was asked to cut up a sheep's heart in science in yr 7 and i refused to do it and walked out the class. I don't agree with using animals unnecesarily (i cant spell!) when there are perfectly good diagrams to use.

Yes
We already know all this knowledge anyway, I not happy about that, bu we have to constantly cut up more animals, as Rick says, just to prove that it's true. It's evil and barbaric.

I think that disection is mean, however it did help me understand the heart a bit more. I didn't like the lungs though. I was a bit upset, but Ms said that the animals used were from a slaughter house, so really its kind of a good thing, using things that would otherwise be thrown away to teach us about hearts and lungs. I would rather use something from a dead animal to teach us to help other animals (humans included) rather than bin it. I think that killing an animal for meat and wasting its organs etc. is worse than teaching us about them. At least the dead animals organs were put to some use, so in that was I am for disection of organs in schools from animals from a slaughter house.

and they dont not use slaughter house animals cos' it would cost alot. If I were an animal and I was killed for meat I would prefer my organs to go to a school to teach others about the heart. Infact when I die I want my organs to go, that why I have donated them all. And I think I'll leave my body for science or something perhaps, cos it might aswell be used rather than buried in a hole, in a box, that has wasted wood and taken up ground space, plus I wouldn't want to be cremated cos' it freaks me out. (a little of the subject there)

It's Better, But Still Not Good
Why do we constantly need to do this anyway. The first time they did, they recorded, as the second time and so on. We already have the records, exact drawings, done the studying yet still, every year in Year 9 in our school another sheep is cut into. Every year, when it is unecessary. It is better from the slaughterhouse, but why was it there in the first place. I think that if people really care about animals and don't want them to die, be tested on, be disected ETC they should become vegetarian. As Viva say, and this is a quote: 'The only way to save animals is to stop eating them.'
