Talk to me or someone else about vegetarianism.
Maybe you would like some helpful advice if you

vegetarianism is just silly. Questions, comments

Healthy eating
Look. Vegetariasm is fine if you want to be, but
stop pestering other people to join your cause. I
don't eat too much meat or fish, although I do
find it tasty (and healthy), but reserve my right
to do so without redicule from 'nutters' like
yourself.

Get Your Facts Right!
Yes, I know that you have the right to your own
opinion. However wrong I think you are (in my
opinion) you have your own and are intitled to
it. I am not pestering you. You had an option to
come on this website and you did. I respectyour
opinion yet I am not pestering you. Yet, as Viva
say 'Vegetarianism and Non Vegetarianism are not
two sides to the same coin.' On one half you find
poverty in other countries, many dead animals, a
destroyed environent and (oposing what you think)
bad health, cancer, obesity, high blood pressure
etc and on the other side there isn't all this.
I'ts good that you aren't eating much, but why
not stop? And as you say 'healthy' you do not
seem to know that eating meat gives you a higher
chance of getting obesity, diabeties, high blood
pressure and many other terrible other things.

We Need Meat To Live!
We need to eat meat to live! Where else are we
going to get protien from? And iron. And you
need to get amino acids from fish. If I go
vegetarian I'm going to be sick.
|
Let's See...
Protien can be found in many other places. It's
in almost everything, but there's a lot in dairy
products, pusles (beans, soya and lentils etc),
nuts and seeds. As for amino acids, they are in
all of the products mentioned (except for dairy
products), especially seeds, which are high in
amino acids. As for iron, there are high levels
of iron in beans, leafy vegetables, dried fruit,
peas and peppers. And these foods do not contain
all of those saturated fats found in meat that
cause so many products.
|
I'm Still Not Convinced
At least meat tastes nice. I once had lentil
soup and it was awful. I'm not too keen on nuts.
Anyway, these things are harder to find and meat
is everywhere.

Pain For Pleasure
Pain For Pleasure.
Some people may not like lentils but I love
them. Have you tried lentil and tomato? It's
great. And being hard to find? Try looking at a
super market. ... I'm not too keen on nuts
either.
|
Gracie,
I hate to say this, but you're wrong: there's
nothing in meat you can't get from plant and
fungus substitutes. Lentils, admittedly, taste
rubbish, and nuts are... well... nuts. But quorn
sometimes tastes better than what it
substitutes, and soya is a major source of
protein.
It's been found that plant proteins are better
for you than meat proteins, and there's not as
much saturated fat in plant proteins.
You mentioned amino acids: amino acids are very
common in plant matter, as it is used in stem
growth and leaf structure. Fungi... hell knows.

And There's Other Reasons...
Not just for health benefits and obviously
saving animals' lives, there's also other
reasons!
When the British government and the American
government invaded and captured all the
countries that are in poverty now, they owned
the country. Now, they technically still do.
They force those countries to export animal feed
(eg soya), which could be fed to humans, to be
exported to our countries. This means that these
people are dying by huge fields of soya which
they are sending to us.
There would be more land anyway. If you had
five football fields of land, you could grow
enough beef to feed 2 humans, enough corn to
feed 24 humans and enough soya to feed 61
humans! That obviosly means that if we were all
veggie then world hunger would be solved. We
would have over twice the food that the whole
world needs!
If we want to destroy the environment then we
should all eat meat! Most of these trees that
are being cut down in the rainforest are used to
grow fields to keep the animals - mainly cattle
ranches.

Grass
Don't eat it - it tastes like inky paper. There
are other veggie subs!

and veggie burgers are accually quite good if
gotten from the right

.................. Oh and, anybody who's not a
veggiterrian is just plain stupid. (sorry jas,
i know you wanna be nice about it) Its good for
the economy, your health, 3rd world countries,
and the animals
|
Each to thier own
people who are not veggies keep moaning that we
veggies try to force them to be like us however
if they actually knew what it was like everyday
when you get your lunch or go to McDonalds etc
people find it funny to try and 'tempt' us to eat
meat. I personally have never tried to make
anyone a veggie and ask for mutual respect from
omnivores. Thanks xxx

Veggie
Hi!!
I just became veggie and think everyone shod do
the same, but can anyone tell me? If we stop
eating animals will they become exstient?
|
Oh Anna! That's great! I'm really happy for you!
Well, no, they won't become extinct if we all
stop eating them. They will simply live in their
natural levels in the the wild. When all the
people care so much, they will make sure they
are released. Yay! Well, the world is now one
step closer to being completely veggie!

Is anybody in Arizona? i am starting A HUGE

Get Your Facts Right
Meat and fish are not the only sources of iron
and protein and stuuf and you're not going to
get sick when you give them up. You'll probably
be much healthier. There's plenty of nutritional
advice for veggies out there, you just need to
look for it
|
Yeah, I recommend www.viva.org.uk
|
or peta2.com.. they have some awesome stuff there
about nutrition... and lots of links
